Copywriter ahoy!

I would like to be a copywriter, since my time is extremely limited. I work full time and am a full time student with eighteen hours of coursework. I feel that as a copywriter, it would allow me to schedule things out ahead of time, so I could take care of the work efficiently, while writing quality pieces.

I have extensive experience with writing, having been president of the writer’s circle in high school, as well as Editor-In-Chief of our high school Literary Magazine. However, over the course of my university career, I also have had a great deal of experience with writing, both in the academic and professional world.

Since my freshman year, I have been taking level 300 courses, and I have been doing various blogging projects, both in class and on a personal level. I am also Opinions Editor of the GSU Signal newspaper, and spent a semester as Web Editor for the Signal, so I feel that I am well suited to the position of copywriting.

Blog #5 Statement of Interest

Researcher / Copywriter

For the purpose of this project I would like to be considered for the role of Researcher. I believe that I am strongly suited for the role because of my research and organizational skills. I have filled the role of project manager many times for past projects and have been successful in that role; however, I would like to try a different path with different goals, challenges, and responsibilities.

My second interest is copywriter. I am currently enrolled in the editing class here at GSU. This would give me the opportunity to exercise both my writing and editing skills.

I am available  through email and phone. I am prompt with responses to questions and concerns.

Blog Post #5: Statement of Interest

For our upcoming service learning project, I would like to be considered for the position of technical coordinator.  Should that not happen, my second preference is to be considered for the position of copywriter.

I am interested in the position of technical coordinator for a few reasons.  The first reason is simply that I thoroughly enjoy reading, writing, and revising different works, while also adding my own flavor.  Having an efficient reading level and effective writing/revising skills are two vital tools that will give you the edge in the work place and I feel that I posses both attributes.    I am currently an English major, entering my final year with a focus on rhetoric and composition.  I have worked with many different forms of writing, presentation formats, and taken different roles while working in group projects during my time here at Georgia State.  With all this experience, I feel that I can decide with confidence different means for presenting and creating artifacts depending on what the artifact is.  My experience with the role of copywriter (I was the copyeditor for my group while taking an editing class here at GSU) will also help me with the editing and polishing of digital media artifacts.  I like to remain organized and feel that tools like Google Docs and Drop box assist in this process.  I have used both in several different classes so I feel comfortable with the programs.

I am available by phone at all times, as long as I am not working or at least busy.  I currently work as a valet so my hours tend to run late into the evening but I check my phone pretty frequently.  Same goes for email, as I am on my computer for hours each day.  I work well with others, enjoy problem solving (especially when it comes to document design, clarity, simplicity), and I am patient.  My father also works as a technical coordinator so his insight and advice will help me along the way.  I hope you choose me to perform one of the tasks I have discussed.

A recent photo of me working hard to finish some copy for a client.

My name is Joe Ennis and I believe that I would be best suited for the role of copywriter. I am just a few months away from gaining my bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in creative writing: fiction. While this project will certainly utilize a technical writing style, I believe that all writing is essentially a creative enterprise. Most of my writing in the past has been a mix of fictional prose, satirical concert reviews, 3-5 page five paragraph essays, and well-written complaints to various customer service departments. I do not see my lack of experience in technical writing as a setback; I see it as an exciting challenge to acquire a brand new skill. While some of my blog posts seem quirky and strange, I am no stranger to professional writing.

I do work almost every day that I am not in class, but my job is such that I am completely available to reach via email or text. I can also take breaks as needed to work with either fellow project members or clients. I live in Atlanta approximately ten minutes from campus, and I am available most nights to meet in person. I am also available to meet Mondays and Wednesdays on campus before noon.

Blog Post #5: Statement of Interest

My name is Kate and I am interested in taking on the role of copywriter in our upcoming service learning project.

I am the perfect fit for the copywriter position because written communication is one of my strongest skills. I am nearing completion of a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Rhetoric & Advanced Composition. My major is all about writing and I have spent my college career polishing my craft through courses like Editing and Business Writing. In my Business Writing course, I practiced writing commonly used business documents such as memos and emails in various professional scenarios. I also contributed to a grant proposal for CrossWalk USA in partnership with a classmate who is involved with the organization. In my Editing class, I contributed to a large-scale service learning project (60+ pages) for The Virtual HR Director, LLC. I practiced editing documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, factual accuracy, political correctness, and layout. I feel my experience in editing as well as writing sets me apart as a candidate. I am also proficient in Microsoft Word and blogging platforms and am organized, reliable, and punctual.

I am easily accessible most of the time through phone, text, e-mail, or skype. I receive e-mail updates through my phone and can always give a fast response. I am not currently in the workforce and do not care for any other individuals so you can get in touch with me almost any time of day. I do commute to campus but all my friends live in Atlanta therefore I am near campus quite often. Otherwise, I have a personal car that makes travelling to meet easy.

I hope you will consider me for the position of copywriter.

Statement of Interest

I am currently working on my Economics major and a minor in English. I would love the position of the copywriter for my assigned group. Being an event coordinator in the African Students Association where I constantly provide creative ideas or concepts or take an idea and give it substance, direction and content I can also bring that into this project. However, for this project I am also open to the position of creative designer.

I am easily accessible by email and text messages and I check and respond to both regularly. I commute to campus daily and would be available to meet whenever necessary. I am very reliable, always right on task, and will do whatever is necessary to make sure the project is excellent.

Blog #5: Statement of Interest for Copywriter

My first preference for a team role is the copywriter position because I am an English major focusing on rhetoric and composition. The classes in which I am enrolled will add value to my assignments, my team, and most importantly, our clients.

Every week, I must submit 500-words to a discussion board in another English class in addition to the 500-words that we must submit in technical communications; that is a minimum of 1,000 words per week for only two of my five classes. Therefore, I have acquired proficiency in writing by producing a great deal of quality work in a timely manner. I am also currently enrolled in practical grammar, and I have been chosen several times to help my peers in class and have volunteered to tutor outside of class. Another course in which I am enrolled that is beneficial to the copywriter position is business writing. Most people associate business with power-hungry corporations, but we need to remind ourselves that programs, such as Whitefoord, Our House, and Moving in the Spirit, are businesses as well. Therefore, we need to maintain communication in cordial manners appropriate for business. These experiences have made me a well-rounded candidate for the copywriter position.

Moreover, I have kept several samples of my work that I wrote at my previous college, including one research paper that qualified me for the Southern Regional Honors Council Conference as well as the Florida Collegiate Honors Council Conference; both at which I gave presentations of my research paper. You can also view samples of my writing in my blog posts: The Lack of Ethics in Resumes and Why It’s OK and When Does It Pay To Be Creative.  Also, I am familiar with the structure and content of annual reports from my role as an honors ambassador at my previous college. I still have access to the annual report as a reference for future intensive and extensive writing assignments.

I have kept two letters of recommendation: one is from my former honors director, and the other is from my former English and linguistics professor. Both have Ph.D.’s in English, and both have said in their letters that I am detail-oriented and have strong written and verbal communication skills. I will be very happy to provide those letters by request.

This semester, technical communications has been my top priority primarily because of the considerable amounts of time-sensitive work. This is advantageous because I will have my part of our service learning project ready every time assignments are due within group deadlines and class deadlines. Also, Not only am I punctual when submitting my work, but also when I am scheduled to be somewhere (i.e. I have never been late to class).

You may call for any questions, but text messages and emails are the quickest and most effective ways to reach me. I am willing to meet on campus outside of classroom hours, online via Skype, and in Buckhead or anywhere within 15 minutes of Buckhead.

I am confident that, with my skills, I will produce written content and deliverables that are most accurate and coherent to my knowledge in order to help my team succeed in supporting our clients and their goals.

Blog 5: Statement of Interest

For our class’ Service Learning Project I would like to be consider for the position of Copy Editor. I have learned about the styles and techniques of copy editing through the Editing course taught here at Georgia State. I am currently doing an internship as a Copy Editor and this is the team member role that I feel most experienced and confident in. I work great in group settings because although I am an excellent leader, I am just as great at being a team player. If selected for the copy editing position I will make sure to thoroughly inspect documents, tables, and charts as well as keep my team and our client adequately and informed in any information and suggestions that i may have. I am willing to assist my team in all roles that need help or creative conversation in order to make sure that we give these great organizations the best service possible so that they can continue to provide excellent care and service to our Atlanta communities. I am fully invested in my community of Atlanta because I myself am a native and also a product of many efforts of programs like these designed to help members of low socioeconomic statuses. I bring an immense passion for community through experience and a completed minor in Sociology. I also bring a keen eye for production, review, and analysis from my pursuance of a B.A in English.  As stated before I am very interested in the Copy Editor position, however I am also open to other positions where I can learn new skills and gain new experience.

Statement of Personal Interest

If at all possible for whatever group I am assigned I would like to be given the role of copyrighter. My qualifications circle around the fact that 1. I am an English major and I enjoy editing and pulling things together and 2. I have some small experience with drafting letters and advertisements as part of class assignments and volunteer work. My second choice would be the post of Researcher because I tend to enjoy the more tedious aspects of it and I have been in similar roles before with other classes and projects.

Blog #5 – Statement of (General) Interest (Technical Coordinator, Copywriter, Project Manager)

For the project, I would like to be considered for the role of Technical Coordinator. I am a Computer Science major and am obsessed with technology. I can learn pretty much any software I’m needed to. I spend a lot of time organizing data in Excel spreadsheets for my job. I would say that I’m obsessed with data; I’ve been obsessed with the metadata of my music collection since middle school. Last week, I spent several hours creating a form in Google Docs, mostly for the sake of familiarizing myself with the tools.

I think it’s fair to say that I’m pretty versatile. During late elementary school, I developed an interest in building websites. Throughout middle school, I created several blogs and web forums, some of which were mildly successful and used by both classmates and friends. During high school, I founded a film production club, created a song from vocal stems that I recorded for a friend’s choral group (so that he could submit it for a national competition), and also managed the social media pages for two bands and my uncle (during his 2012 Congressional campaign).

I feel that my familiarity with various software applications combined with my experience in working with people in different fields makes me a good fit for this position. I already have ideas for how I can create a collaborative work environment for my team and ensure that the final product is the best one we, as a team, are capable of creating.

If I’m not elected for the position of Technical Coordinator, I’d be just as comfortable working as a Copywriter. In my senior year of high school, I was a (brutal) body copy editor for my school’s yearbook; there was one occasion where I made a student rewrite the content on their page because I didn’t think it was good enough. I may seem unpleasant and even a bit pretentious, but I have very high standards for the content that I produce. I would honestly be fine with any being assigned any of the roles except for the role of designer – I’ve never been much of a visual artist.

I can be reached via Skype, Google Talk, LinkedIn, e-mail, and text/iMessage.
My schedule is extremely flexible, so feel free to contact me any time.
