Noa Erlitzki is a chemistry major earning a dual B.S./M.S. in biophysical chemistry at Georgia State University. Her research interests include the biophysics and chemical modulation of disease. She currently works under Gregory M.K. Poon in the Department of Chemistry where she has been a research assistant since 2015, starting as a Molecular Basis of Disease Fellow and later as a University Scholar. Under the direct mentorship of Gregory Poon, she has published a first-author paper and has co-authored two others (one currently under review). In 2017, Noa was awarded a Goldwater Scholarship after being named an Honorable Mention the year prior. She is an NIH IMSD Fellow, an NSF LSAMP Fellow, a GSU Honor’s College University Scholar, and has received multiple smaller research and merit scholarships. Her research with Gregory Poon has been recognized at conferences with awards for poster and oral presentations. She was also the recipient of the 2016-2017 Best Overall University Scholar award from the Chemistry Department. Outside of the lab, Noa serves as the Vice President for the Undergraduate STEM Research Society at GSU and enjoys teaching a one-credit-hour problem solving and concept development course for first- and second-year general chemistry students. Noa plans to pursue a Ph.D. or an MD/Ph.D. and to focus her research on the biophysical chemistry of disease. Before transitioning her focus to academics and research, Noa was a semi-professional ballerina and received certificates from two top ballet academies in Russia, where she trained.
