Kimberly Diaz Perez was born and raised in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. She attended University Gardens High School in Puerto Rico until she moved to Georgia in her senior year of high school, where she attended East Coweta High School in Newnan, Georgia. When she is not working in the lab or studying, she is an avid reader, traveler, and women’s volleyball and soccer fan. She is currently a junior at Georgia State University pursuing a Biology major. She has always been fascinated by Genetics due to her personal experiences throughout her childhood. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Biology, she would like to pursue a Genetic Counseling Master’s Program to be a genetic counselor or geneticist. Kimberly is currently working with Jessica Turner in the Imaging Genetics and Bioinformatics lab in the Psychology department. This lab is based on analyzing genetic data using computerized databases and computerized tools to analyze and link specific genetic information to mental disorders such as Schizophrenia.
