As a student in good standing and pursuing a degree in Fine Arts, Ceramics, attached are twenty still image exhibits.
I was awarded the scholarship to The Brooklyn Museum Art School to learn the potter’s wheel. The following year I was awarded a scholarship to New York School of Visual Arts to learn graphic design. My art talent development is since early childhood.
Academic interest was learning art history and creating ways to incorporate techniques of the Masters in my creations. Modigliani has been an inspiration, the elongated neck accented by Modigliani’s works. Aaron Douglas and Paul Gauguin influences incorporated in my portfolio exhibits. My art uses plaster to create Fresco relief paintings. Study Michelangelo Fresco installations have helped me understand Fresco painting. My current research focuses on Bill Mack, a commercial artist who is well known for Fresco relief paintings.
Black Freedom Fighter sculpture has been my interest for years. I have created a series of commemorative images. Knowledge from the research that inspired me to look further into African Art history. Several images in my portfolio are West African influenced. I am now interested in examining “African cultural degradation in the United States”. I plan to depict this phenomenon in sculpture and Fresco relief paintings.
My area of specialization is real life sculpture. Using a Fresco relief backing fix the art in portrait orientation. Fresco relief has been a working medium for encapsulating my creations. The intellectual theme “Cultural Degradation in a Built Environment”. This topic is relevant to the African images for inclusion in my art forms. A significant amount of research and study are necessary for me to represent Hieroglyphic symbols, and colors respectfully.
My audience is conscious Afrocentric people, the decedents of slaves. The study will include historical events that have shaped African cultural identity and show how these events have influenced relationships “Who do we think we are?” (artist..)
My long range goals are to teach ceramics and create sculptures.
My dream (goal) is to build a body of artwork that shows African Culture as an integral part of American life. Create life-like images that depict events, symbols, politics, and assimilations of African life in America.
