Spring 2018 Game Design Workshops

We are thrilled to announce that we will be bringing back our game design workshops this semester! No prior game design experience is necessary to attend and participate. We happily invite everyone from different skill levels whether you are learning something new or refreshing yourself on some information. We will be hosting 2 series of 2 workshops (total of 4) so that we can try to accommodate as many schedules as possible. For more information, please see the information below!

Workshop Schedule

Game Design for Beginners

Do you want to make your own games but have no idea where to start? This workshop is about giving you the tools to design your own games. We will quickly work through some very basic ideas of how to structure a game, and then you will spend the rest of the workshop time making a game solo or with a small group. This introductory session will be centered on physical games, but the concepts you learn will be easily applied to video games.

Creating Narrative Games with Twine (Beginners)

February 21 (2-4 pm)

April 4 (4-6 pm)

Location: Room 212, 25 Park Place, CMII Building (enter through 2nd floor of 25 Park Place and follow the signs) Georgia State University

RSVP for this workshop

Do you love games with deep stories? Do you enjoy weird indie games? What about visual novels? We want to help you learn how to make these kinds of games with a simple, free program called Twine. This workshop is about introducing you to a Twine. After giving you some basic instructions, we will break out into teams or solo developers and work on creating a small project that we can complete within the workshop time. The goal is to get you from no knowledge to game designer in two hours.

These workshops are free and open to the public (please pass this information along to your students as well); however, space is limited. Therefore, we kindly ask that prospective attendees please RSVP via the links above.
