Hello!
Hello! My name is Brooke Shultis, Academic Development Coordinator at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Georgia Campus. I am responsible for assisting faculty members in all aspects of training; software, teaching strategies, and course development. When I tell someone outside of my field what I do, I simply state “I teach the doctors how to be teachers.” When I started at PCOM, the position did not allow for creative training. Through my strengths and determination, I have transformed my position to be more in depth. Due to my drive to really restructure my role within my department, my boss and I are currently in discussion about creating a new position that helps me attain my professional goals. This has been my biggest accomplishment in my career; I have shown that I have valuable skills to the future of PCOM and PDOL.
My values have really transformed throughout the years. I have now noticed how important it is to have work be a positive environment and to leave each work day better than when you came in. I always try to be a positive influence to my environment and to my faculty, always encouraging them and helping their vision become a reality.
Outside of work, I am a happy, go lucky, person. I am massive Georgia fan (yes, I graduated from there) and I also root for West Point and The Packers. I prefer to spend my days off watching football, being outside and reading psychological thrillers; I collect Stephen King novels. I am also the mother to two fur children, Juicy J and Luna Lovegood.
