FooD Insecurity.
In 2017, 40 million Americans were found to be food insecure, 12 million of whom were children.

Food is a basic necessity of life. The problem of food insecurity must be addressed as it does not only affect the food insecure. The costs in productivity, in health-related expenses, etc. affect whole communities, cities, and countries.

In children, who are still growing, proper nutrition is necessary to ensure that children do not experience issues in development such as stunting, wasting, anemia, and other forms of malnourishment (8). For this reason, food insecurity must be addressed.

In Atlanta, these issues are particularly prevalent, and our goal is to help alleviate these problems at home to ensure that nobody lives in a food desert when there is actually a surplus of food being produced overall.
