Exploring Ethiopia: A Cultural Celebration with IAS

oin the Intersectionality in the American South (IAS) for a vibrant celebration of Ethiopia. In this special event, Gelila Assefa Puck, Partner and Global Creative Director for The Wolfgang Puck Group of Companies, shares her personal journey of growing up in Ethiopia, leaving home, and the role she plays in global advocacy. Additionally, Yohannes Gedamu, Senior Lecturer of Political Science at Georgia Gwinnett College, sheds light on Ethiopian history and current events.

This event goes beyond discussions and offers a sensory experience with Ethiopian art, music, and a traditional coffee ceremony. It’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Ethiopia.

Furthermore, this event is part of the larger International Education Week (IEW), a joint initiative by the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education. IEW celebrates the advantages of international education and exchange and is now observed in more than 100 countries. At Georgia State University, “Ethiopia, Memories of Home” has been recognized as one of the university’s signature IEW events, making it a significant cultural and educational experience.
