Leanne, Brian and Eric were former graduate school classmates at Louisiana State University. Leanne is now the general director of Opera Louisiane, the opera company in Baton Rouge, LA; Brian is a voice professor and Assistant Chair at Perimeter College; Eric is a coach/pianist for opera companies throughout the Southeast. Join them for the Atlanta area performance of their recital tour – a varied concert of opera arias (by Verdi) and duet (La gioconda), Brahms duets, art song and cabaret, and even a little musical theater.

The DeKalb Youth Symphony Orchestra is made up of more than 70 musicians, aged 13 – 18, from high schools throughout the county.  The youth orchestra was started in 1967 to expand the musical horizon of DeKalb County’s young musicians as the string orchestra program developed in DeKalb County, part of metro Atlanta, Georgia, USA.  DYS is a symphony orchestra with strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion, with students auditioning for admission.  DYS has performed in Washington, D.C., Boston, Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Lucerne, Paris, Budapest, Prague, Tinjian, Beijing, Rome, Florence, Venice, Montreal, Galway, Dublin, Riga, Tallinn, Helsinki and has performed several times at the Georgia Music Educator’s Association conference in Savannah.  Earl Kuutti has led the orchestra for the past 33 years.  DYS rehearses once every week during the school year at Chamblee High School and performs three regular free concerts (Fall, Winter, and Spring) on Georgia State University’s Clarkston campus.  DYS also presents an annual Youth Concert for the elementary string players in DeKalb County, giving them a chance to hear what they can achieve if they practice and continue to grow musically.

Perimeter Chorale presents

Music on Music 

This eclectic program will feature everything from Renaissance madrigals to contemporary vocal jazz arrangements. Music with lyrics will reflect on beat, melody, voices and instruments.

DSO has been housed since its inception at Georgia Perimeter College in Clarkston (now known as Perimeter College of Georgia State University’s Clarkston Campus); however DSO is a regional organization and is not limited to DeKalb County in its service, operations or personnel. DeKalb Symphony Orchestra is a member of the League of American Orchestras and the Atlanta Coalition for the Performing Arts.

Perimeter Flutes is a professional flute quartet in residence at Perimeter College, Georgia State University. The ensemble serves the local community by presenting entertaining and educational concerts, recitals, public broadcasts, and recordings. Perimeter Flutes has performed several recitals at the National Flute Association Conventions. They have also performed at the most prestigious national venues such as the Piccolo Spoleto Chamber Music Festival in Charleston, SC; and in St. Philip Cathedral in Atlanta, GA.
