New Voices is excited to announce that we will be organizing a holiday cookbook as one of our Fall semester fundraisers. This cookbook will contain recipes from faculty, staff, and students from our represented departments of English, Modern and Classical Languages, and Communication. To help build the contents of this holiday cookbook, we are announcing a call for recipes.
Download the New Voices Holiday Cookbook: Call for Recipes flyer.
By November 21st, please submit your recipe and contact information either via our online submission form or in hard copy at the English Department front desk. We are currently accepting all varieties of recipes as submission; so, please send in your favorites!
If you have any questions or if you would like to pre-order a copy of this holiday cookbook, please feel free to contact the New Voices Planning Committee and check back often for more updates on this project.
We look forward to receiving your recipe submissions and making this event a successful fundraiser!

This last Friday at the latest New Voices planning meeting, the committee members and attendees discussed the status of some of the current projects in progress.
To begin, the minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved by the attendees and can now be found on our website for review at the following link: New Voices Planning Committee Minutes from 07 Mar. 2014. The minutes from this meeting will also be made available online once they have been approved at the next meeting.
Additionally, New Voices is excited to announce that we will be releasing a call for 2015 Conference Theme Description Proposals soon. Please check back often for more updates regarding this call. We will also be posting more information about our Spring 2014 fundraising event within the coming weeks, so be sure to check back for the latest information.
Lastly, New Voices is happy to announce that our e-mail address has officially changed. Our new e-mail address is now firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have any questions or would like to get involved with New Voices, please feel free to contact us. And, if you haven’t already done so, be sure to sign up for our mailing list to receive more communications from New Voices.
As mentioned in our last posting, we are opening up a Google Doc for all those who would like to contribute ideas to the Spring 2014 Fundraising meeting scheduled for this Friday (March 14) at 1:00 p.m. but are unable to attend. You may also post ideas if you are planning on coming to the meeting and would just like to have them written in the document before hand.
To access this document, please follow the link for the Spring 2014 Fundraising Ideas & Planning sheet. This link should bring you to a page that will prompt one of the New Voices staff to add you as a collaborator. You may also e-mail us to request access to this document, and we will be happy to add you as well. Once in the document, please fill out a row by providing your name, a brief explanation of your idea, a proposed date for the event, and any additional notes for consideration. Additionally, feel free to mark the last box in an idea’s row for which you would like to cast a vote. We look forward to discussing all of this input at Friday’s meeting.
Please be sure to check back here for more updates after the meeting, and don’t forget to sign up for our mailing list for more updates.
To the New Voices blog followers –
Today we had our first official New Voices meeting. We were lucky enough to snag the conference room, which was really cool and nicely air conditioned.
We got some new people interested in being involved and on the committee. But if you couldn’t make it (we only had 3 new people, but we had 30 people interested o the list), please feel free to contact us and let us know of your interest in being involved. We need to replace most of our committee next year and we are excited to show any new people the ropes.
Below are the minutes from the meeting, so you can follow along. Enjoy!
New Voices Notes 11 September 2013
Next meeting we will need to talk again about Bags and things and start reading submissions.
The next meeting will happen on…
Tuesday October 1st @11:15AM – Location TBA
So we don’t usually put our meeting minutes up here on the blog. Mostly that has to do with the fact that we have no secretary. New Grad students – wanna volunteer??
It is important to note however, that we are going to have a back to school bake sale at the end of September. We need people to get involved.
Also – our first official meeting of the semester, where YOU are invited to get involved as much or as little as you would like, is coming up.
September 11th – 10AM – in the Grad Lounge – 9th floor of Langdale Hall
Please contact us at email@example.com if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments.

Next week is the New Voices annual bake sale – get ready… it’s candy season.
In the spirit of this supernatural holiday… I already know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “How can I be involved?”
Check out this flier:
You may have seen the flier up in the copy room or in the Writing Studio. You would have to write down the URL to sign up for baking or table manning (or womanning). If writing down URLs to lose later is not your bag, you can just click this link:
And zowey! You’re helping!
So… let’s say baking is not your thing, and you don’t really have time to man a table. Come by the table and buy a treat! Send your students by! Tell your classes!
We appreciate any support you can give. Please come out and share the sugar-love.
See you there!
