Week 8

Not many threads in common this week.

The three patterns shown in the top row were designed by the company Ghana Textiles Printing (GTP). From a BBC article discussing the patterns, “The new fabrics have symbols like padlocks, keys and planes to reflect some of the measures implemented to curb the spread of coronavirus.”

According to Stephen Badu of GTP, “[We] put a positive twist on a negative phenomenon.”

I am distinctly drawn to the 3rd pattern, for the abstract rounded, kind of loopy motif. It is also very dense, which I enjoy. If you look at the featured image, there are smaller patterns within the pattern that might not be readily noticed otherwise from the thumbnail scale (I guess that’s kind of obvious though.)
