Personal Site Response of FOX Theatre
As I stood directly in front of the FOX theatre, I noticed that the building is almost castle-like, with a prominent comportment that exudes attention. I personified the structure to be confident and bold based upon its stature and viewed it as reminiscent of medieval and classical times, with some modern day style. I thought a lot about the time and architecture of the period when the theatre was created in 1929. I wonder how it could have survived the Great Depression and am fascinated thinking about all of the events that may have happened in each day, month, year, and decade from the past to the present. I can imagine Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, or Shirley Temple performing at this theatre back then. There is a sense of freedom in the era of entertainment, flappers, and cinema creation that I vicariously experienced.
The inside of the theatre evokes a warm and inviting mood with long halls and spacious rooms. The dim luminescence promotes a peaceful vibe. The architecture and design of the building is beautiful and I appreciated the serenity of it all on a Tuesday afternoon when I could be alone.
