Focused Built Environment Description (FBED) of FOX Theatre
The Fox Theatre is a significant historical site located at 660 Peachtree Street North East in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. This vast building is a performing arts arena, utilized for various stage events including plays and concerts. The infrastructure incorporates a parking lot directly to the right of it, offering a convenient experience for visiting patrons. In front of the theatre there is a three- lane road with cars actively whizzing by or stopping at the light further ahead. In addition to the literal traffic surrounding the building, there are various restaurants, and shops, as well as a plethora of people bustling around the area sightseeing, jogging, biking, and doing other miscellaneous activities. There is also a MARTA stop positioned directly across the street, intentionally drawing people to this particular region.
Directly above the large theatre entrance, a depiction of two bright, colorful holographic signs promote various upcoming events that change every few seconds. The FOX sign is large and bold, with an elongated slim shape and a cherry red background. The actual words are white and possess small lights that allow for an illuminated glow of the structure at night. The entire building is made with alternating light-beige to medium tan and darker brown bricks that exhibit a coarse, rough texture. There are eight square windows that stretch the length and width of the front side of the building and display pictures and information related to the theatre and entertainment provided. The front of the building also produces one large entrance essentially divided by a ticket booth. The booth is an octagonal block with shiny gold pillars, framed to take on the shape of both a dome and crown. There are velvety red curtains behind clear glossy windows that are closed to signify that tickets can be bought inside; depending on the traffic regarding business for the day. The lower half of the booth is smooth marble, and colored a rusty reddish-brown that changes to charcoal gray at the very bottom. Regarding the division, there is a left and right section leading to the same space, which is purposefully positioned to allow guests more room to walk into the area if they must purchase tickets at the booth.
Upon entering, there is a soft rectangular brown, black, and white mat with a portrayal of the FOX theatre sign welcoming people in. The floor is marble-like with various geometric shapes and designs, warmly pigmented with different shades of light olive, pink, taupe, orange, and blue. The structure is similar to a cathedral, with high detailed ceilings embellished with hanging chandeliers, gold frames, and intricately detailed designs of a corinthian-like style.
The interior of the building is large and open in such a way that encourages the easy flow of people coming in and going out. The walls are made of smooth and glossy square tiles, cream-colored.
