Jessica Koreis

Jessica Koreis is a PhD candidate in Community Psychology at GSU, building on her Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology. A former Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda, she gained significant experience in maternal and child health through community-based malnutrition prevention initiatives. 

Her research focuses on forced displacement, trauma prevention, global behavioral health systems, and community resilience building, with a strong commitment to addressing health disparities among marginalized populations. At GSU’s ECO Lab, Jessica has collaborated on evaluation research with statewide collective impact initiatives, including Georgia Family Connection and Resilient Georgia. At GSU’s Prevention Research Center, she investigates health determinants and implementation methods among refugee mothers. 

Jessica also teaches Community Psychology to undergraduate psychology students at GSU, fostering an understanding of how psychological principles can empower communities to address social and health inequities. In addition, she contributes to the Carter Center Global Mental Health program, supporting behavioral health systems strengthening in Uganda and advancing research that integrates mental health and peacebuilding efforts.
