On the night of Brandon’s disappearance, Brandon made several decisions through out the night that allude to the likelihood of foul play. After getting in an argument with his girlfriend, Ladessa, Brandon made plans with his father to come over that night, despite the late hour and long drive to Fort Worth, TX. Brandon’s decision to make a plan makes it unlikely that he intentionally disappeared; he made someone he was close to accountable for his whereabouts and intentions. Similarly, when his truck ran out of gas, he called his brother at 12:38am to help him- he refrained from hitchhiking, walking, etc. to a gas station on his own, he did not avoid interactions with his family. Brandon did not reach out to the police until 12:53am, once things become serious, demanding cops to be sent to him (San Angelo Live). Around 1:18 Brandon calls his brother and his brother’s girlfriend, telling them he was “ten minutes up the road, and was bleeding,” according to the girlfriend (qtd. in Missing Brandon Lawson). The brother and his girlfriend received this call while at Brandon’s truck. A police officer who was sent to check out Brandon’s truck in response to a complaint made earlier to the police about the vehicle being parked partially in the road. Neither party was aware of Brandon’s phone call to the police. Both phone calls serve as an attempt by Brandon to reach out for help, not hide from the people he knew could help him. Brandon’s deliberate decisions and actions show that his intention was to drive to his father’s, he did not plan on running out of gas, as evident by his call to his brother for help. The incidents leading up to what is likely Brandon’s death are not anything out of the ordinary until his phone call to the police; only then is any sense of urgency and panic conveyed.
