The Georgia State University, Perimeter College Theatre pathway offers opportunities for students to work both onstage and backstage. Courses in performance and in technical theatre are led by experienced faculty who prepare students to work as theatre professionals in Atlanta and beyond.
Perimeter College’s guided pathway also offers small class size and college-to-career training as well as experience working on high-quality theatrical productions. Technical theatre students are mentored by Atlanta professionals and acting students are offered workshops on industry standards for building resumes and selecting headshots. Students are well-prepared for further college study or entry into the job market.
Studying theatre allows students to develop the artistic depth and professional knowledge needed for pursuing careers in theatrical professions, non-profits, higher education, and commercial enterprises.
Although auditions are required to perform in one of our mainstage productions, no prior experience is required to be a theatre major. However, in order to complete the pathway, students are required to participate in a production (either onstage or backstage) via Theatre Practicum.
