Charles A. MacArthur, Ph. D.
Charles A. MacArthur, Ph.D. is a Professor of Special Education and Literacy in the School of Education at the University of Delaware. His major research interests include writing development and instruction for struggling writers, development of self-regulated strategies, adult literacy, and applications of technology to support reading and writing. He is currently the principal investigator of a 5-year project to evaluate a writing curriculum for college basic writing classes, Supporting Strategic Writers, which was developed under a prior grant. He is co-editor of The Journal of Writing Research, was previously editor of The Journal of Special Education, and serves on the editorial boards of several journals. He has published over 125 articles and book chapters and edited several books, including the Handbook of Writing Research, Best Practices in Writing Instruction, and Adult Education Literacy Instruction: A Review of the Research.
