APA’s Online Psychology Laboratory(OPL)
This website lets students participate in online psychological studies. OPL contains interactive resources for the teaching and learning. Materials included are based on peer-reviewed articles centered on online studies and correlational studies, large data sets, demonstrations, and teaching aids. An instructor code is required for student participation.
An initiative for students to share valid and reliable research. It encourages building of literature reviews, organizational skills and provides hands-on experience for citation management while writing and being accountable for informational content on line.
Canva
This is a fantastic tool for creating quick graphics. The software is point-and-click, user friendly and has a plethora of free content. The layouts are diverse and thus can be used to spruce up a presentation, a flyer or anything that can be saved as an image format. Graphics are high end and pretty!

Crashcourse Youtube
Great educational content for many disciplines. For instance the search “Brain” yields THESE results.
CogLab
This is similar to OPL (above) and is not free. Some of the content is different from OPL.
Evernote
This is my favorite list-masking, note-taking, web-clipping and filing-everything system. It can be synced across devices for both PC and Mac platforms as well as online through a web browser. It is user friendly and the basic stuff is free!
Flippity
A fun way to make flash cards or even conduct a team quiz in class. It is versatile in the sense that it can be synced with Microsoft excel to enter formulae or even make online flash cards from a google spread sheet.
Grammarly
This can be used to upload documents and check content for grammar/ format. It is also available as a plugin to be used with firefox and is activated while you work on line. The beauty of Grammarly is that it lets you switch between
Piktochart
This is a tool for making infographics very quickly. After creating them, the free version only allows you to share content but not to download the content in any form e.g pdf, jpeg, etc.
Poll everywhere
As the name suggests, this tool permits a live audience to participate in a poll. The prerequisites are either a device (any as long as you can access a web browser) or a cell phone with text messaging service. With some organization, this tool can make the classroom experience dynamic!
Scrivener
This is an advanced writing software. It can be thought of as a word processor with super powers. As of 2016 it is priced at $45, however you do get a free 30 day trial to see if you like it! It is exceptional for writing book chapters, a thesis or any large collection of documents where organization is required. This is especially great if your content is not too focused on scientific formulae. You can add multimedia such as images, video and other cool content into your project.
Socrative
Similar to Poll everywhere in its pre-requisites but this is primarily a tool for classroom assessment. Templates and instructions are available on the website.
3DBrain
This is available through a web browser or as an app. It is an interactive tool that aids in learning brain anatomy. It is made by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
Tagxedo
This one turns your content (which could be anything with words that can be copy pasted into a web browser) into visually stunning word cloud, words individually sized appropriately. The main purpose of Tagxedo is to highlight the frequencies of occurrence within the body of text.
Tableau
This is an advanced piece of software for data visualization only. It has the ability to make amazing and powerful dashboards after you impost your data through Microsoft excel. Plenty of tutorials are floating around the internet and also, students get a free student version to use – which is wonderful!
Wordle
This seems to be exactly the same as Tagxedo (above) but may have some more free content or may be even simpler to use.
XMind
Great mind-mapping software. The basic version is free and is available for use with Mac OS.
Quizlet
Assessment software with which a teacher can make flashcards accessible to students and then quiz them on the same. This is also available for students or anyone to use among themselves. It is pretty integrated in its functionality and can be used for collaborative purposes across classrooms. Layouts are intuitive and easy to use and as of 2016, it is free to use.
