My ENGL 3050 course, Intro to Rhetoric and Composition, really helped me relate the writing I was publishing in all my other courses back to the basics of rhetoric. Through learning about the history of rhetoric I learned its place in society today and how rhetoric affects the way we interpret others (and how they interpret us). For my final research paper in this course, I chose to write about how the rhetoric and journalistic methods of journalists have been altered with the heightened use of Twitter for breaking news stories. Though this is the intro course for rhetoric and composition, I took the class in the Fall of 2014 as one of my final rhetoric classes. I feel it showcases my growth within the department.
