CASA Pre-Law GroupMe Code of Conduct

The CASA Pre-Law GroupMe is a maintained by GSU and CASA – the Center for Advancement of Students and Alumni for students, alumni, professors and others to share pre-law advice and resources, to announce pre-law events and to coordinate the GSU Pre-Law Community.

It is not a private student groupchat. The GroupMe has professors, alumni, law students and legal professionals and as such needs to be maintained in a professional atmosphere. Members agree to uphold the below Code of Conduct.

Code of Conduct:

Members of the CASA Pre-Law GroupMe are to uphold the ethical standards expected of future legal professionals. Those who cannot will be removed from the group and may lose access to pre-law resources, events, and advice. Severe violations and inappropriate behavior may be reported to the University for investigation into violations of the student code of conduct.

Members are expected to maintain these standards both in the CASA Pre-Law GroupMe itself and in private communications with other members. If someone contacts you via your membership in this group and violates these rules, please report them to a moderator.

Purpose: The purpose of this GroupMe is to foster a pre-law community at GSU to share resources for networking, application preparation, and general pre-law advising and prep.

Respectful Communication: Use respectful and courteous language at all times. No Harassment or Bullying. We strictly prohibit any form of harassment, bullying, or discriminatory language. Use constructive feedback rather than personal attacks. This is a zero tolerance policy. Violators will be removed from the group.

  • NOTE: This policy also prohibits negative discussions around GSU faculty and courses. Complaining about course workloads, disparaging instructors or their materials, course structure, or other academic work will be considered a violation of this policy.

No Spamming/Irrelevant Discussion: Keep discussions relevant to pre-law topics, law school applications, or related subjects. Avoid non-academic discussions Avoid sending irrelevant or repetitive messages that could clutter the chat. Discussions not directly related to pre-law questions will be removed. Multiple violations of this policy will result in removal from the group.

  • Examples of violations of this policy include: attempting to sell graduation or concert tickets, listing items unrelated to pre-law prep for sale (selling an LSAT book is okay, selling your TV is not), posting religious messages, advertising businesses or services, or promoting non-pre law events.

Academic Integrity The sharing or requesting of unauthorized assistance on assignments or exams, the sharing of course materials, or providing access to outside resources which serve to violate academic integrity is prohibited. Violators will be removed from the group and may be reported to the University.
