Many law schools will require or allow students to submit a resume detailing work and educational experience. While exact recommendations vary by each individual, there are some common rules that should be followed.
- 1 page. Maximum. It’s not your life story – keep it relevant and recent.
- Unlike Legally Blonde, don’t print on pink paper and include perfume. Use a neutral font, keep things simple and elegant.
- Don’t write long paragraphs, include at most a sentence or a couple of bullet points detailing your experience.
- Pay attention to details! If you pick a style (periods at the end of a sentence or not) stick to it the whole way. If your style gets sloppy or inconsistent, people will assume you are, too.
- Triple check for errors and typos. Have someone else look too.
