Hi all,
Welcome back! As we prepare to get started with the Spring 2025 semester we’ve got a bunch of exciting Pre-Law events and programs in the pipeline. We’ll start announcing those next week as classes resume, but we’ve got one particular program that we need to get moving on a little earlier.
CASA is partnering with GSU Law’s Student Bar Association (called the SBA, their student government) to create a mentorship program between current law students and undergraduates. Through the program we’ll be pairing up undergrads with law students for advice and mentorship and (if available) for the opportunity to shadow them throughout their day at law school and at other law events.
To do this, we need to have a list of interested students and some more information about you to help match students based on interests and availability. If you are interested in participating in the mentorship program, please fill out the google form below as soon as possible. Space is not guaranteed and depends on demand and the availability of our mentors! There will still be great pre-law events outside of this program, so don’t feel like this is an all-or-nothing situation.
This is open to current GSU undergraduates only.
If you have questions please reach out to Dr. Yontz directly via email (myontz@gsu.edu).
One more note as we think about kicking this program off: these law students are extremely busy and often stressed with many demands of law school and work. They, like all of our guests, are volunteering their time and energy because they care and want to give back. This is a big sacrifice on their part, and space in the program is likely to be very competitive. Undergraduates who participate in this program are expected to uphold the highest standards of professional and respectful behavior. That means respecting your mentor’s time and boundaries and engaging in professional communication. Disrespectful or inappropriate behavior (including things like showing up late or missing scheduled mentorship meetings) is going to be taken very seriously.
