When I was watching the presidential advertisements for this election, I noticed a lot of interesting things. For one, they weren’t really made to appeal to genders like the kid advertisements were. Instead, they seemed to try to appeal to the different view points of each party. The Democratic party ads were all about equal opportunity and living in a world where everybody can be happy, and the Republican party ads were filled with nostalgia and trying to improve things.

I also noticed that both of the candidate’s ads utilized pathos more than anything else. It’s like they were trying to guilt their audience into voting for them. Instead of making advertisements about their politics or goals, they just had a bunch of sob stories that were trying to make the audience feel bad.

Lastly, I noticed that most of the ads had the main goal of making the other candidate look bad. One of the Donald Trump ads that I watched did this by using Hillary’s words against her. One of Hillary’s ads did this by having an old man tell the audience why Donald Trump’s America would be an awful place. While the ads weren’t really gendered like the kids ads, I still think there were certain tactics being used to gain the support of people.
