Course Description: This course is designed to increase the student’s ability to construct written prose of various kinds. It focuses on methods of organization, analysis, research skills, and the production of short expository and argumentative essays; readings consider issues of contemporary social and cultural concern.

ENGL 1101 (Themed): Reading Texts, Writing Texts (themed) Spring 2019

Course description:

Explores different kinds of written texts such as short stories, poems, newspaper articles, peer-reviewed articles and analyzes different writing styles and patterns. Students will learn about targeted audiences of different fields and strategies of persuasion. Analyzing the rhetorical strategies of different texts, students will construct written prose of various kinds. It teaches methods of organization, analysis, research skills, and the production of short expository and argumentative essays.
