Course ENGL 2120: British Literature Survey Course (Spring 2021)

Course Description:
The aim of this course is to introduce English majors to a wide range of genres and authors in the British tradition. Apart from the history of British literature, students will be introduced to different genres of British literature (poetry, non-fiction, drama, short story) from different periods. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the material by taking frequent reading quizzes, performing exercises, writing a short out-of-class essay, participating in class discussion, and writing a research essay. This survey course encourages the students to understand and critically analyze how the history, culture, and politics of each period shape the content and form of literature.
