What is fashion? Fashion is a multinational platform that people from all over use to express many things from social injustice, their dating preference and even down to their music choice. With advertising included, it was presented on a whole different level that impacted many societal and cultural issues. When it comes to fashion no one ever thinks about the production that goes on behind the scenes to help build awareness in culture and society. In the 90’s and 70’s there was a lot of issues that affected people on a global basis and allowed them to use fashion as their medium to confront those who ignored the problem.
In the 1970s the Vietnam War was one cultural event that impacted people of all ages old and young who felt that our soldiers were fighting an unwinnable war that should have ended years ago. Many social groups made their introduction during this travesty and the one thing they had in common was that the war needed to end and their loved ones could come home. Peace rallies began to occur in response to the never-ending war and their choice in fashion was floral headwear and dressing freely, famously know as hippies. The 90s was another decade that involved a lot of social events that impacted the culture and inspired a lot change in how we look at one another fashion wise.
