Engrade

I sent registration e-mails out for Engrade.  I am hoping that you received them.  If you don’t check your e-mail often, please check it and sign up.  It only takes a moment!

If you are in my English 202 class, you can’t participate in discussions for homework grades or quizzes without it.  You have a homework assignment for Monday on Engrade, so get on it!!

If you are in my English 202 World Literature class, make sure you add a comment in the discussion of Engrade for Monkey.  It counts for a homework grade.  If you can’t find the discussion, here is how you locate it.  Open and sign-in to Engrade, go to your home page and, on the left hand side, click “more.”   You will see “discussion” listed there.

If you are in my English 105WS class, please go into your WordPress blog, and update the “about” section to include a picture of yourself and some information about you.  You can get to the “about” page by going to your dashboard, clicking on “pages,” and hoving your cursor over “about.”  Choose “edit,” and edit that page.

If you have not established your WordPress page, please see the directions posted on this blog.  Also, you can go to the WISE computer lab in the basement of Kresge Hall at any time to have the staff assist you in making your blog.

Some Class Business

ENG105 classes meet at WISE computer lab in lower-level of Kresge Hall on Friday, August 26th.

B”H

I was so glad to meet most of you on Wednesday!  I am looking forward to a great semester.

I have a couple of reminders.  For both English 105 and English 202–please remember to sign up for the WIKI and fill in both the “Introduction” section and the confidential “Contact” form.  I would like to make sure I that you know how to use the WIKI, and that I know if anyone needs any special help.

Also, on the second page of my dashboard (see the tags at the top!), there is a wall for random comments.  Please feel free to post there, but keep it G-rated!

Welcome!

A beautiful view of the CAU campus

This is Dr. K’s Class Blog.

I will be posting assignments, suggestions for digital tools that might help you, and other items of interest on this blog all year.

I highly recommend that you subscribe to this blog (please see sign-up in the right-hand column).  Once you sign up, you will receive any blog posts via e-mail (please use an e-mail that is connected to your smart phone).

Above this page, you will see some tabs for different classes, for information about me, and for resources that might help you in this class.

Most of my classes require that you build and maintain a blog.  Under “resources” you will see instructions for how to make your own WordPress Blog.

In addition, you will find important resources for this class on my class dashboard.  There you will have access to this blog, the Wise Student Resources page, my twitter page, the class WIKI, and a handy “to do” list of homework.

Have a Beautiful Summer!

You all made it through the year!

I was honored to be your teacher.  I hope you have a great Summer!!!

Please contact me with any questions or concerns on Facebook, Twitter, or via Gmail.  I will check my campus mail, but not as regularly as my other mail.

MEET IN KRESGE LAB TODAY!!

B”H

We will be going over all the requirements for the class, what I expect for finals’ week, the exit exam, and your e-portfolio and reflective essay.

Also, I need to have you fill out the Instructor Evaluation today!!   (Due to the fact that most of  you have skipped class because tomorrow is Good Friday Holiday, we will be giving the instructor evaluation during the exit exam on Tuesday, April 26th in your classroom.)

Reflective Essay

B”H

Please work on your reflective essay at home or in the WISE lab on Tuesday, independently.  Do not turn in the reflective essay to InSite, just post it directly to your e-portfolio on the appropriate page.

Here is the essay topic:

Reflect upon your writing before you were in WISE English, and as you moved through the program this year.  What is the most significant thing you learned this year, and how do you think it will prepare you for your future?

Checklist for WordPress e-Portfolio

Your e-portfolio, and what is in it, is important to your grade.  Please make sure it is updated before the end of the semester.  Also, your blog MUST BE ACCESSIBLE TO ME (DRKBLOG).

The following is a checklist for things that MUST be on your blog in order to award you a grade this semester in English 106WS:

  1. Blog should have a page for English 106WS.
  2. Blog should have a completed “About Me” section.
  3. Please make sure that your slave narrative group project link is on a page entitled “Slave Narrative Group Project,” and that you include the names of others in your group.
  4. Please include pages with the following titles in this order:

Please note that this e-Portfolio is made up of the papers you completed for class.  It does not include the discussion board and quizzes you took, or your attendence grade.  Please make sure you have completed Discussion Board #1, and #2, and you have taken all the quizzes (including the exit exam on April 26th).
