Description of r/Atlanta

 

Reddit is the self proclaimed front page of the internet. Within reddit there are countless subreddits. There is a subreddit for almost anything. These subreddits have people from all over the world posting content for their peers to comment on. The subreddit for Atlanta is unique because it has local contributors and a local audience. At the top of the page it has a skyline view of the city at sunset. directly below is a feature that sorts posts in several ways. The most common and default sort is “hot”. This gives readers the most clicked posts of the day. Two other common sorts are “new” and “top”. New shows the newest post and “top” shows the most upvoted posts. When the “hot” sort is selected the top post is an automatically generated post that is a thread for Atlanta Weekly Events. Here people can post events that are going on in the metro Atlanta area.

On the right side bar, there are several important sections. The top section has a picture of the sign to the fox theatre and also shows both the amount of subscribers and current users on the subreddit at the time. Directly below that is a section that links to related subreddits and social media accounts ran by the moderators of the subreddit.  This is followed by an Atlanta Quicklinks section. (below)

This section is especially useful to people who are looking to move to Atlanta but also serves a purpose for people that already live here. It has links to available jobs, neighborhood/roommate searches, education links and several other useful resources. Also pictured is the hyperlinks to the four major sports teams of the city. These are the only links on the page that are pictures instead of just text links. The bulk of the page is aligned to the left and has all of the content. This changes completely about three times a day. Yesterday there were a lot of posts about the Mumford & Sons concert that was coming but today it seems to be just random current events.
