This is a picture from the pond at Piedmont Park. The bridge connects the two biggest areas of the park, the main field on 10th street and the recreation area that borders Piedmont Avenue. The pond is filled with ducks and other animals. The gazebo on the side is one of my favorite parts of the park. I took this photo as a panorama because I think it is really cool that from this spot, you cannot see any part of the city. It feels like you are in a more rural part of the state.
This is a picture of the pool at Piedmont park. This picture was taken from the bridge on the pond from the last picture. The pool is really nice. It has fountains as you can kind of see in the picture. It also has a divided lap pool and open area. The clubhouse behind it is also really nice. It is required to pay for a pool pass every year to use the pool and the clubhouse.
This picture is from the basketball court. There is one full court and one half court which are both gated. The courts seem to be well kept. The day that this picture was taken rather cold so there was not too many people on the courts. Behind the courts are somewhere around 10 tennis courts.
This is a stone tablet right in front of the main playground. When I went to take pictures, this is really the type of thing I was looking for. It is a list dating back to the mid 1800s. The list comprises of every mayor that the city has had. There are two tablets. The first one is pictured and it covers the first mayor in 1848, Moses Formwalt, to the mayor in 1926, Walter Sims. The second tablet, which I failed to get a good picture of due to the lighting, extends all the way down to Kasim Reed. Artifacts like this make Piedmont Park feel more historical
This is a link to a video of the main playground at Piedmont Park. I took this on a cold and windy day. I decided to take a video because it was interesting how many kids were there on a cold day. The kids do not seem to mind but most of the parents are huddled up in jackets and hats. The photo shows the playground but the video does the activity more justice.
