Jada Norris is a senior at Georgia State University (Atlanta campus) pursuing a Bachelor of Arts & Science degree, with a major in English and a concentration in Rhetoric and composition. Born in Germany she moved to the states when she was ten years old, during this transformative time she relied on literature for comfort as she adjusted to her new surroundings. The program opened the door to examine main forms of rhetoric that many are unaware of; allowing Jada to learn the art of reading against the grain to critically analyze the information society is exposed to. Through this concentration she developed a strong understanding of rhetoric’s dynamics in societal communication, as well as how these forms of conversation pertain to our past and near future. During undergrad the opportunity to analyze and critique a piece of literature provided a unique outlook regarding how rhetorical perspective is needed to further understand a literary piece by peering beneath the surface as it relates to how we form opinions grounded in the literature we read. The love for literature further developed her passion as an avid reader of exploratory novels with unique character dynamics that ensues a journey of self-discovery and introspection. Jada is interested in pursuing a career in journalism, publishing or public relations that will allow her to establish a societal impact on the human experience through the written word. With book publishing, she hopes to further the conversation on diversity in the literary world creating books that provide an array of experiences and identities.
