Jennifer Ellen Murphy Curriculum Vitae

Professional Summary:

I’ve taught lower-level creative writing and composition courses within and outside the university system for the past nine years. Some of my research interests include historical and contemporary queer fiction and poetry, examinations, evolutions, and representations of the domestic in literature, the female bildungsroman, Native American literature, and representations of gender performance in literature. I am currently working on a poetry chapbook that is thematically driven by cosmological occurrences analogous to the lesbian divorce experience, a collection of multi-length stories that examine heteronormative influences on lesbian interpersonal and institutional relationships, and a novel about stolen or “hot,” if you will, rocks. While I have extensive experience teaching lower-division writing courses, I hope to teach upper-level courses focusing on literary editing and publishing, protest literature, a survey of contemporary queer literature, and research methods for creative writers. Lastly, I hope to one day create writing programs for underserved youth to develop a positive relationship with writing and literature.
