Project 3

In project 3 we had to create a sequential narrative. We we also given the option to use any of the 3 drawings from project 2 as backgrounds in our comic. Our comics had to be about a superhero inspired by our own lives. We had to brainstorm ideas for powers, costume, setting, etc. My comic ended up being about a superhero who would rather chill out but still gets the job done.

For project 3 I decided to only use crowquill pen. I did this because I like manga and comics where the artist only uses pen, and also because I thought that’d make it easier to reuse the background drawings while still looking cohesive. The drawings were done in my sketchbook using 7x10 in paper. I did thumbnail drawings in pencil before inking everything. I thought about filling parts in and using more black, but I liked the simplicity in the style.

We also had to have another drawing that demonstrated atmospheric perspective. There was a lot […]

Battling Perfectionism

Battling Perfectionism

This composition is supposed to be full of things that I am afraid to draw. The goal is to reduce perfectionism. I chose to draw hands, feet, trees, and noses. I think hands and feet are the scariest, just because of how many angles you have to keep in mind. Drawing all of these things […]

Project 1

This was my first assignment for my studio class, a self portrait collage. We were supposed to use different materials in order to create an image. We could use magazines, paper, or even kitchen materials. I mostly used magazine paper, and cardboard from a cereal box. I glued all of these onto a 9×12 in piece […]
