3 New Website Design Tips I’ve Learned

1) On your website, it is important to not have any dead end pages. You don’t want your viewers to run into a situation where they have nowhere else to navigate on your site.  At minimum, every page on your website should at least have a link back to the home page, or even better yet,  a home page link along with links to other main sections of the site. 2) Before actually creating your website, it is a good idea to do some planning. A good way to do this is to create a sitemap for your website, which is very similar to an outline of your future site. A sitemap or outline for your site might look something like this:

Home:

  • a. About me (resume)
  • b. Projects
  • c. Publications
  • d. Contact Information
  • e. Copyright Information

3) Use font and colors to make your website more consistent and appealing. You can use larger fonts for the headings of your site to make reading information easier and more convenient. In addition, you should use contrasting colors between the text and background to make reading easy to viewers. Also, as a last thought, you should always proofread the content on your site! You should be 100% sure that there are no typos before posting material, and it is always a good idea to have someone else proofread and edit your content!!
