Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune
“Without faith, nothing is possible. With it, nothing is impossible.”
Humble beginnings..
Educating and inspiring [all] people IS my goal but it seems that my life and her legacy will speak more as she strives for the excellence in all things. Who is KeAndrea Rivers? Well, she is a daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, educator, self proclaimed tech-y, speaker, Beyonce’ enthusiast, people lover [and also] fighter [for what is just], an inspiration to some…. and a friend to all.
Growing up, she was raised by parents who loved and provided for her, a village that supported her, and a passion for people. That passion was stirred by outstanding educators who taught as if their lives depended on making their student’s lives meaningful. At five years old, she wanted nothing more than to emulate similar love, compassion and drive into the hearts of many. Investing in herself and others is her calling. She graduated from a well-known DeKalb county high school, Southwest DeKalb High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University as an Office Administration and Technology major. Currently, her she is on one of her most esteemed adventures to date, pursuing her master’s degree from Georgia State University in the Instructional Design and Technology Graduate program.
Her passion for integrating technology into classrooms began after declaring her major, yet she had no idea that she’d be here today. Learning that she could merge her love with technology with educating people has been an absolute dream. She likes to think that her personality is also very much the “assertive, leader, ‘let’s make it happen’, supervisor type”. Therefore, she is confident that that her tenure as a graduate student will be an amazing (read: busy) one!
Her family and friends are more than excited that she is taking on this new venture. Her colleagues and brilliant students all share in her excitement of beginning graduate school as well. Her students actually found it humorous!
Her students when she told them the big news.
Through lots of laughter, “Ms. Rivers is going to have homework too!”
She loves to spend time with the most extraordinary learners while reaching and teaching through integrated technology and differentiated instruction. She enjoys reading Essence magazine, serving in her community, going to the spa, random coffee dates, and watching ridiculous amounts of Netflix. She attributes her success to her Faith. Additionally, she says that she has the world’s perfectly imperfect church family. I am forever indebted and thankful to each of them! xx
Thanks for popping by! 🙂
