There are several groups projects taking place this Spring 2024 semester in Dr. C’s Perspective on Disabilities class. We have groups like the Accessibility Map Group, Clarkston Outreach Group, Film/Social Media Group, Afghan American Alliance of GA Group, Veteran Research Group, we even have a student doing independent research and many more groups. All trying to make their mark an improve the lives of the disable members of our community. I will be doing playing my part towards this goal though the Magazine group by bringing light to all of these different groups in the best way I know how, writing.

Unfortunately, most of these groups are busy getting their minds wrapped around there new mission in life and trying to understand where to start and have not been able to reach back out to me but that is perfectly fine. We do have some groups that can and I want to share it with you all today.

First we have the Neurological Disability Research Group.
According to a member of the group by the name of Mahum, after thoroughly sifting through the previous groups’ work and data, the group has decided that their goal for this semester would be to focus on how disability has affected people of different demographics. Specifically how a community’s or a person’s culture, ethnicity, place of residence, environment, and religion play a role in how people with neurological disabilities are treated and perceived. The group also plan to educate people about neurological disabilities and raise awareness about available resources for those with disabilities. They have also started outlining their interview questions and will soon begin contacting participants to schedule interviews. So as we can see that they know there mission and have set their goals for this project. I can’t wait to see where they go from here!

Second we have the Access and Innovation Project.
According to a member of the group by the name of Gwyn, they are working on convincing the GSU administrators to add a Sensory Room for the Students and Staff who need them, at the Clarkston campus if I am correct. Right now they are at the information collecting and research phase. Today they will be asking people to take there survey. The link is below if you would like to help this wonderful group. I have already taken it myself its no more than 10 questions I believe and it literally took me a good 5 minutes at the most to do. Again another group on the right path, they know what they want and have started the process towards achieving this goal. .

The last group we have is my group the Magazine Group.
It is not really a group it is just me but that’s okay because I like working alone most day. Either way so far I have decided what I want to address in my articles one being giving updates on other groups. I also want to use my articles to tell stories of people that are permanently/were or are temporarily disabled, talk about controversial topics, and talk about many other thing surrounding disability itself. I have come up with a schedule of what day I want to post and what to do if I don’t post. Unfortunately thing aren’t really going as plan I have had minor set backs because I underestimated other’s availability, but that’s fine I have stepped back and reassessed the situation. My plans are still in order and I will be back on my regularly planed schedule starting this upcoming Monday. I know my goals and how to do it the last thing is just to do it.

As we can see there’s a lot of different things going on in Dr. C’s Perspectives class. So far we have only heard from 3 groups including myself but their are a good 10 in the class. That being said I can’t wait to see and tell you all about the progress other groups have accomplished.

Thank you for reading good bye for now!
