Compassion Project

For this project, some research was done on compassion. What is compassion? Compassion to me is something we take pity on, that we need to value a little more than usual and care for, instead of taking for granted. In this project, I created two 11×14 poster boards on saving the Earth and saving the turtles. This was a collage activity where I placed recycled paper for the final product, as well as printed images and put together. I also used Canva for the text.

Overall this project was fun. It really made me think about compassion, and what are other things there are to be compassionate about that are actually worth caring and taking care for and of.

3 Drawings

One-Point Perspective

For my one point perspective drawing, I choose Old Town Conyers, a small city outside of Atlanta that I am from and grew up in. Here, one of my favorite shows was filmed, the Originals, a show about vampires. The process for this drawing was fairly much easier than the other two drawings. This drawing contained straight lines meeting at one point, the vanishing point, which seem to simply be lines going toward an inner focus. I used toned paper along with color pencils that were very vibrant.

Two-Point Perspective

For this drawing, I choose simplicity in a two point perspective. This drawing is meant to portray my future, within architecture. This drawing in particular was semi more difficult than the previous since there is two vanishing points, rather than one. Another difficulty that I had with this drawing was the material I used. I did this drawing on drawing paper with crowquill ink. The fact that the ink was scattering in unwanted places made it hard, though I am still very proud of the outcome.

Atmospheric Perspective

My atmospheric perspective is of Malibu Beach, California of my first childhood roadtrip. Making this drawing was very much exciting to put together. I did the drawing on drawing paper and using water color was best than any other combination. However, the mountains were the difficult part of the drawing, since I am not the best at those. Overall, this project was exciting to work on and learn how I can layout the different perspectives.

Self Portrait Collage

For this artwork, I created an 11×14 self portrait collage using recycled materials and printed pictures. I
have previously made collages before, but this is my first self portrait collage, which was more difficult to
put together. I used three different images for the face that represent my facial features – light eyes,
semi-wider nose, even lips. I included blue fabric, cut evenly, to form a top with shinny neckline using a
metallic pipe cleaner. I also included my favorite quick snack and inspirational words/phrases.

HodgePodge of Failures

For this assignment, Hodgepodge of Failures, I choose three images/objects that I am particularly not comfortable drawing for the fact that I am afraid of the outcome. I spent a maximum of 15 minutes on each sketch, without erasing my mistakes, but rather learning from them. Whatever mistakes I have done in the previous sketch, I made sure not to do in the next sketch. I used the procreate software, using the HB pencil.

My first three sketches are of a rose. I focused most on the outline of the rose at first. I then added some shading in the next sketch. On the final rose, I combined the outline work and the shading. For the second image, I sketched trees. These are surely not my best; I believed these were going to be the easiest out of the other images, but I was wrong. Lastly, for the last three sketches, I sketched out lightbulbs. I am more proud of my second sketch of the lightbulb than I am of my first or last.
