Students in Jeff Young’s American History classes learn to use several digital storytelling and research platforms as they explore our nation’s past. Caroline Tiller was interested in Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery and decided to create a walkthrough of the historic site. ESRI Story Map allowed her to combine mapping and timeline tools to allow viewers to learn about the history of the many sections of the cemetery. You can learn about many famous Atlantans buried in Oakland, as well as a history of the Civil War, race, class, and ethnicity. GSU is walking distance to this site, so after looking at Caroline’s project, you may want to visit.
