February Meeting Recap – We need your ideas this week!
During today’s meeting we reviewed the current status of the SAF grant budget for the term. Upon evaluating the available funds, club members are tasked with helping research ways that we can apply the funds before the end of the semester.
Because no event can be planned without 30 day’s notice, we are looking to hold 2-3 final events during the month of April and funding or supply requests must be made very swiftly in order for this to be possible in April. This means that any ideas you guys have need to be discussed this week so that we can move forward with the rest of the paperwork early next week. Currently, we have around $700 that can be used to host events, attend exhibitions (pay for admissions fees), or hold workshops.
Is there a gallery or museum, convention, or art fair that you’d like to go that has an admission fee that’s previously prevented you from attending? Is there an art technique or subject that you’d like to explore with your peers?
We also have $1500 currently planned for “display cases that help present exhibits of student work” on the Dunwoody campus – this can be your legacy as an art club – something that you encourage interaction with student art efforts on our campus. In what way might you like to experience student artwork on the campus?
Would you like to see additional display cases to be purchased for the library art gallery so that art students can continue to hold an annual Dunwoody art show in this space? Or perhaps you’d like to see some glass locked wall displays (somewhat like those that were once used by Student Life) in the B building where so many students interact on a daily basis?
As an additional wait, during the month of March, we’ll focus on more low-key / no cost events like movie days. Do you have preferences for which types of movies you’d like to see?
Leave comments on the Art Club blog post (below) with any ideas that you’d like the club to consider. We’d love to hear your suggestions. Additionally, there is a group chat in Remind that you can join or use to contact current active club members – your ideas are welcome through there as well.
