edTPA | Upload from iPad to LiveText for edTPA

A two-part video series demonstrating how to upload video from an iPad to LiveText for submission to edTPA. Step-by-step instructions are posted below the videos.

Part 1:

Part 2:

This procedure is iPad only. Uploads from a desktop computer will not automatically compress the video.

  1. Log in to LiveText, and tap File Manager on the right of the page.
  2. Tap Upload Files/Images.
  3. Tap the Choose File.
  4. From the popup, tap Photo Library (rather than “Take Photo or Video”).
  5. Another popup appears with all available media catagories: Photos, Videos, Moments, etc. (Yours may only say Videos if that’s all you have on the device.) Tap Videos.
  6. You’ll see thumbnail images of the available video clips. Tap the one you want to upload. You’ll be able to play it in the popup to make sure it’s the one you want. Tap Use.
  7. At that point, the video will be compressed on the iPad. You’ll see the words “Compressing video…” above a thin blue progress bar. When that is done, it will automatically begin to upload to LiveText. Patience! With longer videos required for edTPA, this step and the one following could take several minutes each.
  8. As it uploads, on the LiveText File Manager page you’ll see your video’s name, given by the iPad when you trimmed it – something like trim.8998…729HK.MOV. To the right of that will be striped progress bar and a percentage indicator showing the status of the upload.
  9. Once it’s done uploading, the file will take another period of time to process on the LiveText server. When it’s finished, the word Completed will take the place of the progress bar.
  10. Tap Uncategorized to see the information about your video. In this view you can see the file’s size, and slide the list to the left to see other options. Tap the Rename button and rename your file. Once it’s renamed, you can attach it to the proper assignment.
