PAST COMPETITIONS
On Saturday, March 2, 2024, thirty-nine students competed in the annual Atlanta Regional Brain Bee held in the PAIS Building on the campus of Emory University.
- First Place Champion: Katherine Perez from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, Tennessee
- Second Place: Henry Miller from Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tennessee
- Third Place: Aimee Segoviano from East High School in Memphis, Tennessee
And once again – all of the competitors impressed us with their engagement with the material and their interactions with each other. We look forward to having them return.
In her own words: My favorite part of the Brain Bee was being able to connect what I learned to real-world phenomena. So much of “Brain Facts,” from the process of language learning to the different types of memory, provides a biological explanation for phenomena we all experience in our day-to-day lives. And at the competition, exhibits – from touching real brains to measuring my own brain activity – provided a hands-on look at what neuroscience could look like in our present and future.
