My Spin
This course will address various issues involved in writing proposals and grant applications. Whether you will be working as a grant writer in a non-profit organization, a consultant writing consulting proposals, a business manager writing various internal or external proposals, a scientist writing grant applications, a small business owner applying for government grants…, you should find this course helpful. We’ll cover the rhetorical issues of grant and proposal writing, the process of such writing, and various kinds of proposals and grant applications (genres). The genres may be different, but the rhetorical skills are transferrable. Therefore, you should benefit from learning about all the different genres. Past students in this course brought in hundreds and thousands of dollars for various organizations, and I expect and am fully confident that you will continue this fine tradition of helping local communities.
This is a cross-listed course. If you’re an undergraduate, you should register for 4510. If you’re a graduate, you should sign up for 6510. What’s the difference then? The difference is in the projects. The lucky graduate students will get to do a couple more projects, and one or two of the course projects will be different for undergraduate and graduate students.
