English 3120 Weekly Schedule

Class format: online asynchronous
This is an online asynchronous class, meaning we don’t have set class meeting times. I might have occasional meetings to answer questions, much like office hours. Attendance for these meetings are NOT mandatory, although I would certainly highly recommend your attending them.

Weekly Modules
There’re specific assignments to complete each week. The due date for weekly assignments is 11:59 pm on the last day of each week as indicated below. Each link below provides detailed instructions on the specific requirements for the week’s work. You MUST read all the instructions carefully to avoid losing points.

Your reading responses will be based on the following text:

  • Week 1: Chapter 1 Process & Chapter 2 Universal Usability; 
  • Week 2: Chapter 3 Information Architecture & Chapter 4 Interface Design
  • Week 3: Chapter 5 Site Structure & Chapter 6 Page Structure
  • Week 4: Chapter 7 Page Design & Chapter 8 Typography
  • Week 5: Chapter 9 Editorial Style & Chapter 10 Forms and Applications
  • Week 6: Chapter 11 Graphics & Chapter 12 Multimedia

Project Due Dates 
The following projects are due at 11:59 pm on the dates indicated below:

  • Tagline Analysis: June 9, 2024
  • Focal Point Analysis: June 16, 2024
  • Website Analysis: June 23, 2024
  • Online Portfolio: July 21, 2024 (Note: the components I mentioned in the instructions for the final project, such as professional profile, online resume, rhetorical analysis, etc., are suggested components for your online portfolio. Therefore, these are not required assignments and don’t have due dates. The only required component for the final project is a complete online portfolio. As for what to include in this portfolio, use your best judgment based on your knowledge of your profession.)
