Focal Point Analysis

English 3120 Assignment

Overview
This assignment requires you to analyze the design of focal point of three different websites and assess their effectiveness.

What Is a Focal Point?
The focal point is the most eye-catching element on a webpage. It’s the element that, upon opening the page, your eyes are automatically drawn to before you notice anything else. A focal point can be a prominent image, tagline, heading, or anything that claims most of the reader’s attention.

A good focal point should

  • convey the most important message of the webpage
  • be the most prominent visual element
  • effectively bring out the theme of the webpage

Read “Creating Focal Points in Your Web Design” by William Craig to get a better idea about the role and design of focal points.
