Reading Summaries

English 4320 Project

For this assignment, you will read the articles whose links are provided in the schedule and then compile a 100-200 word summary of the readings.

Here’s how the assignment works:

Summarize your readings in a list format
After completing the readings each week, summarize the readings in a list format. You’re required to present a rather substantial list. For example, if your reading is about “audience,” your entry could look like the following:

Audience

  • Understanding audience’s needs is a pre-requisite for designing an effective document.
  • Audience’s context for document use should dictate the way the document is designed.
  • If possible, a well designed survey of audience’s needs and preferences should be conducted before starting your document design.
  • If possible, a user test should be conducted after your initial design of the document.

Create a file.

  • You should create a file named “Readings(YourLastNameFirstName),” e.g., “Readings(SmithJohn).”
  • The summary for each entry should be presented in an unordered list (see example in the previous section).
  • Avoid excessively short (10 or fewer words) or long (50 or more words) list items.
  • All entries should be kept in one file.
  • Turn in an updated reading summary each week.
