1. Find an appropriate case.
For the purpose of this project, any case that involves cross-cultural/intercultural communication will be appropriate. There have been quite many high-profile cases that got much coverage online. For example, the Malaysia Airlines Flight # 370 that disappeared on March 8, 2014, ignited a cross-cultural communication crisis. How Malaysia Airlines officials and Malaysian government officials communicated with various audiences about this incident would be a very good case for the purpose of our class.

2. Provide your classmates with links to materials about this case.
Identify online and other coverage of the case. Use our class email list to email links to such coverage. In cases where links provide too much information, be sure to be very specific about which materials you want your classmates to peruse before coming to class. Make sure you email these links by Monday.

3. Present a summary and lead discussion on the case
In class, your task is two fold: 1) present a brief summary of the case (5-10 minutes); 2) lead a class discussion. For discussion facilitation, prepare some good, thought-provoking questions. How you actually facilitate discussion is up to you. Be creative.

4. Write a reflective essay
After your in-class case analysis, you’re required to write a reflective essay on the case. Your reflective essay should include the following components:

• Introduction/Overview
• Summary of the case
• Analysis of major communication strategies employed in the case
• Conclusion
