Linkedin About:

My involvement in professional animation services began in 1999. My first Art Director position in Hollywood, Florida introduced me to the challenges of managing other creative individuals. During this time, Reallusion developed iClone and this changed the world of 3D real-time animation production. I became the 1st certified trainer in the United States to teach iClone in 2005 and would come to use these and other solutions to provide the world’s largest corporate talent assessment firm, located in Alpharetta, Georgia, (CEB) Corporate Executive Board, my services as Lead Animator and produced over 200 hours of animation for entities such as the OPM (Office of Personnel Management, US Government.) I was the character animator for Georgia produced “Survivors Remorse” for STARZ network and worked closely with Jon Stewart for HBO. I was honored to be the Motion Capture Lead and Previz Artist on”Replicas” from Lotus Entertainment, starring Keanu Reeves and Thomas Middleditch, distributed by Entertainment Studios. I am now representing Georgia State University and the Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII) training students in emerging technologies and virtual production techniques, utilizing real-time animation tools, with Opti-Track optical capture systems, XSens, Perception Neuron and Rokoko inertia-based motion capture suits / Motive, MVN Studio, Axis Neuron software. Recently, I became a virtual cinematographer using 4DViews Volumetric motion capture systems and the HoloSys pipeline to create “next-media” content generation and to enable the next-gen workforce with the tools they will need to be effective in the field, while integrating the Reallusion eco-system of tools with Unity, Unreal, HTC Vive, Oculus, Magic Leap and Holo-Lens. This development has combined all my technical application and art direction efforts to engage a new approach to content development and media evolution.

Artificial Intelligence (http://www.lucuslabs.com/ai.html)

We’ve all seen the movies. Robots from the future travel back in time to kill the only people that can stop them. Computers develop a consciousness and decide the only way for humans to survive is to imprison them. And who or what do we have to thank for all of that? Artificial intelligence.

Well, I’m sorry to inform you that “artificial intelligence” as portrayed in the movies does not exist. But that doesn’t mean that A.I. doesn’t exist at all or that it can’t empower humans to do more. In fact, A.I. is being leveraged around the world for everything from identifying terrorists before they attack, to predicting weather changes, to autonomously driving cars, to diagnosing health issues, and even cleaning our homes and keeping us company.

At Lucus Labs, we help customers work through all the hype and discover what artificial intelligence really is and what it can do for your business. Using cutting edge technologies, we design systems that solve real-world problems while also continuously researching new/emerging technologies that can one day provide us with A.I. like we see in the movies (minus the parts about it killing us).

We work side by side with customers to document your problems and assist you with choosing the right algorithms required for solving those problems. From there, we continue working with the customer to design, develop, and implement solutions that can give you an exponential advantage over your competitors, help you save time, help you save money, and even help increase your profits.

About Us

Lucus Labs is a technology investment, research, and development company. Our portfolio consists of companies and technologies that are primarily focused on the fields of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Blockchain. We identify these as some of the most important technologies necessary for companies to conduct business, while also being some of the most difficult to understand, implement, and leverage. Our team of talented engineers is skilled in these technologies, therefore making Lucus Labs ideal for developing cutting-edge products that customers can adopt without the expensive learning curve, time, and costs.

For companies that don’t have the capacity and/or expertise in any of these fields, our services are provided to take your concepts from idea through final productization, leaving you (the business owner) to focus on what you do best, running your business. In parallel, some of our engineers are devoted to developing emerging technologies that can be licensed or acquired by interested parties. These technologies are guaranteed to use the latest advancements in their respective fields, providing the customer with a head start over their competitors.

ABOUT JAMES

“Hi. I’m James Ashley. I work out of Atlanta, Georgia.

I am a VR/MR/XR architect specializing in Magic Leap, HoloLens, Oculus, and Kinect. I come out of the agency world and previously worked at Razorfish Emerging Experiences, where I developed custom installations for companies like AT&T, Delta, Dr. Scholl’s, Audi and Microsoft.

In 2012 I wrote the book Beginning Kinect Programming with Jarrett Webb for Apress. It was the first book published about Kinect development and sits on the bookshelves of most creators working in emerging technologies today.

In 2017 Dennis Vroegop and I did the App Development for HoloLens course on LinkedIn Learning.

I’ve been working on HoloLens development since May of 2016 and Magic Leap development since February of 2018. There’s some sort of record in that.”

Linkedin Info:

“James Ashley is 3D dev lead at VIMAEC where he designs and develops Magic Leap, HoloLens, ARKit, Vive, Oculus, and gestural experiences. He worked many years as an enterprise architect for software consulting companies and, unrelated, happens to have spent half a decade before that studying academic philosophy. He also spent several years at the legendary Razorfish Emerging Experiences Lab in Atlanta, GA building interactive installations.

James co-authored the LinkedIn Learning video course HoloLens App Development to provide inspiration and a kickstart for mixed reality (spatial computing) developers. He also wrote the Apress title Beginning Kinect Programming with the Microsoft Kinect SDK. This book gave thousands of developers their first taste of gestural programming and inspired a new generation of creative technologists working in the Microsoft stack.

Since 2010 he has been immersed in computer vision and machine learning. He is currently deeply involved in using the power of Artificial Intelligence to build better user interfaces in Mixed Reality.

James has never been referred to as the David Foster Wallace of bleeding-edge technology.

In a previous life, he pursued a Ph.D. in Philosophy at Emory University.”
