How does Math 1111 online work?
You will be able to complete homework, quizzes, and some other assessments from your home computer, or any computer with Internet access and access to Top Hat. You are required to take a midterm and final exam at Perimeter College (or at a Testing Center of an accredited college near you or with ProctorU – a remote, online, proctoring service). Details are provided in the course syllabus. You should expect to complete two or three sections of the textbook each week (in a full semester course). You will have quizzes/tests, discussion posts, and other assignments to complete in addition to the proctored exams.
How is the course set up?
The course has 2 components: An iCollege component and a Top Hat component.
- iCollege includes email, discussion boards, live classrooms, and supplementary materials (e.g., video files, worksheets, problem sets, study guides). Familiarize yourself with iCollege by completing the student orientation and making sure you have the necessary plug-ins on your computer.
- The Top Hat component is where you will perform a majority of your work. In Top Hat, you will have access to the ebook (College Algebra with Support, Hendricks, 2nd edition, Top Hat) that is assigned as required reading with embedded questions and videos. Top Hat is where you will complete your homework exercises for both Math 1111 and Math 0999.
