Cheng-Liang Zhu
Cheng-Liang received his Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry from Hunan University, China and a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno. His long-standing interest and strong passion in organic synthesis encouraged him to explore further in this field. In 2012, Cheng-Liang joined the Xu group to pursue his Ph.D. studies, where he worked on several projects of the stereoselective olefin difunctionalization, including olefin aminohydroxylation, aminofluorination, aminochlorination, and hydroxytrifluoromethylation. Outside the lab, Cheng-Liang enjoys vintage fountain pen collection and restoration. Working on the pens and nibs helps him relax, stay stress-free and feel satisfied. Chengliang and his wife welcomed their first baby boy in 2014.
