The 2020 Chemistry Graduate Student Association Symposium will feature poster presentations, a selection of speakers, and the announcement of the 2020-2021 CGSA Executive Board.

About the 2020 CGSA Symposium

Each year in the spring, chemistry graduate students present their research to fellow students, faculty, and staff at the annual symposium hosted by CGSA. In addition to acting as a forum for the exchange of research insight and progress among departmental colleagues, the symposium is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to socialize and and relax while celebrating the end of another successful academic year. To that end, the annual symposium was merged with the Chemistry Department Awards Ceremony in 2018. This year’s symposium is sure to be a blast! Fun!

Student Oral Presentations

Oral presentations provide students whose projects are complete or nearing completion an opportunity to share their research with the department as a talk. Students who wish to be considered for an oral presentation may indicate so on the registration form and will be prompted to submit an abstract. From these submissions, a small group of students will be selected to present their research as a 15-minute talk followed by 5 minutes of questions from the audience.

Student Poster Presentations

Poster presentations are a great way for students at all stages of graduate training to share their research with the department! All graduate students are welcome to present a poster or be considered for an oral presentation.  Note: students selected to give an oral presentation do not need to present a poster.

Departmental Award Ceremony

Every year, the Chemistry Department Awards Ceremony recognizes exceptional undergraduate and graduate chemistry students for their achievements. During this event, these students are presented with awards and scholarships. In 2019, the annual departmental awards ceremony was merged with the annual symposium.
