Underground Atlanta is a very historical landmark in the downtown Atlanta community. Everyday on my way to and from my classes at Georgia State I walk through Underground Atlanta. The underground was first opened in 1969 and was originally exactly what it is called a road under ground. As a child I would often come here with my family to shop, eat, and attend the many festivities that used to take place at the underground. It used to be a much more beautiful place with a lot of shopping and people going in and out. Currently the underground is becoming more and more run down as everyday passes. The underground has known become more known for all the homeless people who live outside the building and violent crimes that have occurred over the years than the original purpose to be a strip mall.

The underground can become a beautiful tourist attraction once again but the city must make enormous improvements to make the area as nice as before and find somewhere else for all the homeless to congregate. All in all underground Atlanta is a lovely, and historic place that ultimately should be restored for the greater good of the community
